Chapter 2:School and social system in Maycomb

Hi guys. These chapter tells us about Scout's 1st day in school, education and social system in Maycomb.

1)On Scout's 1st day of school, she meets Ms caroline, her 1st grade teacher and many other children of Maycomb.Ms caroline discovered that Scout was literate. Instead of being impressed, she was unhappy that Scout's father( Atticus), taught scout to read. Her response: Told Scout to tell her father that she can take over now, " And try to undo the damage"!

2)This links back to the education of Maycomb: Feels that learning can only take place in school.( And learning at home was considered as a "damage")

3) Social system in Maycomb:

Ppl in Maycomb are divided into different categories, based onn their wealth and family reputation. For instance: The Cunninghams-They are very poor.

Eg:" One morning' Jem and I(scout) fund a load of stovewood in the backyard. Later, a sack of hickory nuts appeared...With Christmas came smilax and holly..Spring, we found a sack full of turnip greens." This shows that the Cunninghams are poor, but they can only pay back Atticus his money in cind. They did not try to run away from debts: Honesty and honourable

All righty! That's all...

Chapter 1: Introduction to Maycomb

What i will be doing in my blog would be chapter naming. In chapter naming, i will need to name the chapter according to its content and also list 2 of the important events in the chapter.
In chapter 1, there are actually 3 important events but nevertheless, i will cover all of them:)
Maycomb is the town that the people in this novel are living in. In this chapter we will analyse the life in Maycomb county:
Quote:Ppl moved slowly...took their time about everything. A day was 24 hrs long but seemed longer. There was no hurry, for there was nowhere to go, nothing to buy...nothing to see outside the boundaries of Maycomb County."
Expl: In my opinion, the lifestyle in Maycomb is boring and simple. The ppl moved arounf without hrry, as if they are living in a completely different time zone. This proves how sepy the town can be. Furthermore, "it is a very small, closely-knitted community", where everyone knew each other. This is because "there was nowhere to go", therefore the probably spend time social activities, which is later on shown the novel where aunt alexandra often has tea parties at her hse.
There is a particular family though, that doesn't really interact with anyone in the town. They are the Radleys. And this is one of the important points in this chapter.
Introduction of the radley's family.(Sry-myspacebar-is-spoiled:()
Boo-radley(one-of-the-mockingbirds)
-"Inside-the-house-lived-a-malevolent-phantom"-Why?(In-maycomb-county-folk's-eyes)
-He-destroys-ppl's-azaleas,it-was-because-he-breathed-on-them
-He-was-supected-of-doing-small-crimes.For-eg:When-ppl's-chickens-and-household-pets-were-found-utiliated,they-all-accused-Boo-of-committing-it.That's-why-he-is-known-as-the-malevolent-phantom!
Radley's-hse(In-maycomb-county-folk's-eyes):
Eg:A-negro-would-not-pass-the-radleys-place-at-night,he-would-cut-across-the-sidewalk-opposite...//From-the-radley's-chickenyard-tall-pecan-trees-shook-their-fruits-into-the-schoolyard,but-the-nuts-lay-untouched-by-the-children:Radley-pecans-would-kill-you.//Baseball-hit-into-the-radleys-was-a-lost-ball-no-questions-asked."
In-summary,everyone's-afraid-of-the-radleys.
Children's-impression-of-Boo(jem-and-scout:Atticus's-children.And-dill):
-Negative.-the-children-think-that-he-like-a-monster,whereby-he-was-very-prone-to-violence-That's-why-they-thought-his-parents-had-to-chain-him-to-the-bed.
-Eg:Crazy-and-violent:"As-mr-radley-passed-by,Boo-drove-a-pair-of-scissors-into-his-leg-pulled-them-out,wiped-them-on-his-pants-and-resumed-his-activities.

Hey! i'm back!

Hi guys! I haven't been blogging for a LONG time...Well, I'm back to blogging because my school requires me to blog about my literature novel this year, which is" To kill a mockingbird". Most of my friends all said that this book sucks and all, but i think it's rather interesting. Weird huh? Haha! The most important quote in this book is " it is a sin to kill a mckingbird." A mockingbird is actually a bird that sings beautifully, so that's why it is a sin to kill a mockingbird as they have done nothing wrong to us but instead brings us much joy and pleasure. There are 3 "mockingbirds' in this novel. They are: Atticus Finch, Boo Radley and Tom Robinson. You might not know any of these people, but i assure you that you'll know them quite well if you read my blog!
There are also other reasons for blogging:
1) To create and extend my identity through content, layout and other special features.
2)To encourage the pursuit of an area of interest or passion that i will express through posts.
3)To have more than 25 followers!

All right! Let's get started!
